Meeting of young metallurgists.
One of the main directions of the Concept for the Development of the State Youth Policy in Uzbekistan until 2025 is the creation of decent working conditions for young people, the expansion of their economic opportunities, the development of entrepreneurial activities, and the support of young potential employees. On February 24, 2022, young specialists of Almalyk MMC JSC, as part of industrial tourism, had the opportunity to visit the Tashkent Metallurgical Plant. Colleagues were met by young specialists of our Enterprise. During the excursion program, they told and showed the capabilities of a modern automated metallurgical enterprise and the benefits of environmentally friendly production. The guests were especially interested in issues related to the work carried out with young specialists and the created working conditions. Our employees spoke about the areas of support and training for young professionals, about measures aimed at labor protection. After the tour, a dialogue took place in a friendly atmosphere, during which colleagues exchanged views and discussed professional issues related to technological processes and laboratory tests. At the end of the meeting, both parties agreed that working at such an enterprise as TMZ is the dream of every young metallurgist, because all the conditions for the professional growth of young specialists are created here.

The recently launched Industrial Tourism Program is gaining momentum! On February 23, our plant was visited by representatives of JSCIB Ipoteka-Bank, which today occupies a leading position in financing large construction projects. The visit to our enterprise is connected with the tasks that were assigned to the bank by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the further development of housing construction and the housing market”, namely, lending to enterprises producing modern, economical, building materials in demand on the market. Bank representatives saw with their own eyes the scale and capacity of the Metallurgical Enterprise, which is one of the major suppliers of quality products for the construction market of our Republic. As a result of the excursion, the participants received answers to all their questions and expressed their gratitude for the organized event. A pleasant surprise was the meeting of former colleagues. Many employees of JSCIB “Ipoteka – Bank”, who visited our enterprise today, began their professional activities at “UZZHILSBERBANK”, at the end of the meeting, our employees, who also worked in the banking system, not only warmly talked with former colleagues, but took a joint photo as a keepsake.
Labor protection
Labor protection is the most important element of the social policy of the modern state, which is of great importance in connection with the intensive development of the production sector. The experience of the world’s largest companies shows that labor protection is one of the main priority tasks. Of the dozens of performance indicators of the enterprise, modern managers put labor protection and safety of workers in the first place. Neither the amount of wages, nor the level of profitability of the Enterprise, nor the value of the product produced can serve as a basis for neglecting safety rules and justifying threats to human life or health. Tashkent Metallurgical Plant is a modern enterprise with safe working conditions. The Company regularly takes measures aimed at improving the safety of employees. Trainings, seminars in the field of labor protection and industrial safety, visual campaigning at the stands, educational and methodological materials, as well as fire tactical exercises close to the real situation with the involvement of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, contribute to increasing the level of knowledge of employees of the Enterprise in the field of security labor, increase the level of responsibility and discipline of our employees, increase labor productivity, reduce the number of emergency and other emergency situations.

Guests of the first tour of “TMZ” were representatives of the Association of Private Tourism Organizations of Uzbekistan, foreign and local companies operating in various sectors of the economy, as well as journalists and public figures.

Students of the first entrepreneurial university in Uzbekistan were given the opportunity to get acquainted with modern production, the main units of the sheet-rolling shop, the procedure for conducting laboratory tests to assess the quality of products.
After the tour, the specialists of the Enterprise, through information material (presentations and videos), not only demonstrated the capabilities of technological processes and an environmentally friendly enterprise, but also answered all the questions of the guests.
University students showed particular interest in the implementation of information technologies and software in production, the criteria for selecting and training personnel, as well as the activities of the commercial and financial departments.
Following the meeting, the leaders of TEAM University, with words of gratitude to the organizers of the meeting, expressed their opinion on the advisability of further developing partnerships in this direction, since meetings in this format are mutually beneficial and productive.

Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Italy Visited Tashkent Metallurgical Plant
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Italy, Otabek Akbarov, visited the Tashkent Metallurgical Plant (TMZ) to get acquainted with its activities and discuss with its leadership the prospects for further technological cooperation with Italy, a Dunya news agency correspondent reports.
The head of the diplomatic mission got acquainted with the full production cycle, from the processing of metal imported from Russia to the production of finished products for the local market and for export. Modern laboratories were also shown, in which the quality of products is constantly checked. The Ambassador also had a conversation with the engineers of the Italian company Danieli & C. Officine Meccaniche S.P.A., who are at TMZ to assist in ensuring the proper operation of the equipment.
It was noted that high-quality steel produced by TMZ is widely used in construction, production of household and electrical products, as well as ventilation and air conditioning systems. Finished products are exported to Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Germany, Poland, Ukraine and other countries. At present, sales channels are being established to the markets of Turkmenistan, Georgia and the countries of the European Union.
The management of TMZ spoke about the prospects for the development of the enterprise in the coming years. In particular, it is planned to modernize some components of the industrial chain to increase productivity up to 750,000 tons per year, reduce production costs, reduce downtime, process labor intensity, and save energy resources.
In addition, it is planned to build a second combined continuous hot-dip galvanizing unit with the ability to produce 250,000 tons of rolled metal per year. This will meet the growing demand for rolled metal products, expand the range of metal products, as well as harmonize the development of the enterprise in accordance with the state policy of Uzbekistan on the localization of products. In this regard, the prospects for continuing fruitful cooperation on the implementation of these new industrial and technological tasks with the Italian company Danieli & C. Officine Meccaniche S.P.A., with the possible attraction of concessional financing from Italy, were discussed.
By the decisions of the President and the Government in March 2017, the investment project “Construction of the Tashkent Metallurgical Plant” was initiated with a production capacity of 500 thousand tons per year of cold-rolled steel with galvanized and polymer coatings. TMZ, established on an area of 50 hectares, produced its first roll of rolled products in December 2020. Currently, the plant employs 990 workers.
The total cost of the project is 334.4 million euros. The leading Italian industrial company Danieli & C. Officine Meccaniche S.P.A. was the supplier of the main technological equipment, the Russian company MetPromProekt LLC was the general contractor.

At the exhibition “Made in Uzbekistan” in Baku, organized by the Export Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan with the assistance of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Azerbaijan, among the eighty participants of domestic manufacturing companies, the Tashkent Metallurgical Plant has caused particular interest.
The members of the “TMZ” delegation held a presentation of the enterprise, took part in various meetings and B2B negotiations, where the issues of future cooperation between the potential Azerbaijani partners were discussed in detail.
Summing up the results of the participation at the exhibition, it is safe to say that the business mission of TMZ has been implemented.
Participation in it enabled our company not only to strengthen ties with Azerbaijani business communities, but also to discuss issues of increasing exports, and solve many problems – image, marketing and advertising.
